I had my appointment with the pulmonologist in Eugene. I do have multiple “areas” in my lungs – all lobes. At this time, the areas are too small to biopsy. The usual protocol is to repeat a CT scan in one year. Due to my current health status and family history, the doctor wants to repeat a CT scan in 6 months to keep a closer eye on it. He would want 3 six month) “no growth” CT scans before he would change to a yearly scan. He did note that the usual treatment, removal of the impacted lobe would not be an option for me as you cannot remove all the lobes. So, it would be chemo and radiation. So next CT scan will be some time around April 2021.
I had my appointment with the ENT regarding the “areas” on my thyroid. We are going to go forward with a needle biopsy. It will be done here at BAH probably the week of the 19th.
Monday I am off to Portland for my last every-other-week chemo treatment. YIPPEE!!!! To say the least, extremely excited to go to once a month treatment and I have the appointment list for the rest of the treatments. Appointments go through June of 2021. Doctor has said that I will be feeling better as there will be more time between treatments.
My last hospital stay – my labs were all out of whack. I required IV potassium and IV Ferritin (iron) in addition to my treatment. I have gone from a Monday-Friday stay to a Monday-Saturday stay…UCK!!
On the positive side: My white blood cell count remains stable and my kidneys remain functioning well.
Life does change. I went from having one doctor that I saw every 6 months for routine appointment and once a year physical. I have now graduated to 6 doctors involved with my health care. It does become tiring when everything seems to have to do with my health….
I think I have organized almost everything around the house. The other night, when George came home, the kitchen floor was full of frying pans, kettles, etc. as I was matching lids to kettles, etc. In the process, I had decided to rearrange storage of cookware. (I had already matched and organized all the plastic ware). Also…due to weight gain, I tried on every pair of pants I have to see what fits and what does not. I am also very excited about finding a great family to donate all my card making supplies to – so I have boxed all the supplies up and they will be ready to go after I get a couple more boxes. I had a lot of stuff. I can see the kids having fun making cards.
I miss so many people!! Many THANKS to those who have continued to support me through this process.
I hope that all is well with everyone!!!!!
Off to Portland….
