CT scan – done
Ultrasound – done
Checked into the hospital. IV started. Labs done. Chemo at midnight…. probable…. depends on lab work results, PH of urine, etc. FYI…on my last blog regarding the medication error, the oncology team has taken this seriously and is reviewing it in the QA/QI committee along with everyone that was involved in the error. As I have told them, may hope is that the process is reviewed, and this would not happen with another patient -especially someone who lives in a smaller town and may not have the ability to get the medication.
Due to the fires, the news has been full of people being evacuated from their homes. I gained a different perspective, last evening, when I was checking into the motel. Other “families” who were also checking in were talking about being evacuated and losing their home and belongings. When we went to dinner, I could hear people talking about being evacuated and losing their homes/property. This also took me back to when I was 6 years old. My grandmother had died, and my parents were in Scotts Mills at her funeral. We kid stayed in town at friend’s homes as my parents were only going to be gone 3 days. We all only took 3 days of clothes with us. While we were gone, the neighbor came over and stole a couple items and then burned out house down.
I remember standing on the road, with my brothers, mom and dad and looking at where our house used to be. The only thing you could make out was the burned refrigerator. Otherwise it was just black. It seemed like we stood there forever. No one saying anything. So, my heart goes out to everyone who has been touched by these fires!! God bless them all. Many thanks to those of you who have helped/donated in this matter…. every little bit helps and is deeply appreciated!!!
Dr Ambady and his assistant were in with the results of my testing:
CT of the lung – area/mass has not grown. I do have a lot of “spots” and they suggested follow up with a pulmonologist who is a specialist with the lungs. That appointment will be pending – sometimes hard to get in to see a specialist.
Ultrasound of the neck/thyroid – area/mass has grown and is now within the size that follow up is warranted. OHSU is working on setting me up with an appointment with an ENT in Coos Bay for evaluation. I have requested to see Dr. Shimotakahara as he was my mother’s and other family member’s doctor – although he can be hard to get in to see. The first visit will be an evaluation and the ENT will decide on whether or not to continue to monitor or go forward with a biopsy. We will see what develops…
We will continue to move forward and take the above appointments as they come…. 😊
Everyone stay well and set aside time to enjoy life!!!!!
